System overview
Three components, one system
IOSix hardware, the RIGVELLA mobile app and fleet management work together, pairing over Bluetooth to keep Hours-of-Service records under 49 CFR Part 395.
IOSix hardware
Vehicle diagnostic interface device. FCC ID 2AICQ-1020.
RIGVELLA app
iOS models RIGVA1 / RIGE1A; Android models RIGVG1 / RIGE1G.
Fleet management
Vehicle visibility, live duty status and compliance alerts.
Core workflows
HOS, duty status, logs, inspections, alerts, GPS and diagnostics.
Install and login
From the diagnostic port to your first mile
Setup is a one-time sequence. After pairing, logging runs on its own.
- 01
Plug in the device
Locate the vehicle diagnostic port and seat the IOSix connector firmly.
- 02
Install the app
Download RIGVELLA: RIGVA1 for iOS, RIGVG1 for Android.
- 03
Log in
Sign in with your driver credentials to reach your assigned vehicle.
- 04
Pair and select
Connect over Bluetooth and select the assigned unit, such as Unit 1042.
- 05
Drive and log
Review your HOS status; the app records duty and drive time as you go.
Daily use
Four countdown timers on the home screen
The dashboard shows exactly how much legal time remains — at a glance, no math required.
Drive
07:45
/ 11:00 hrs
11-hour rule
Counts down from 11:00. The ring turns red as you approach the limit.
Shift
10:15
/ 14:00 hrs
14-hour window
Total on-duty window from shift start. It cannot be extended by rest.
Break
02:15
/ 08:00 hrs
30-minute break rule
Time since your last qualifying rest break. Required after 8 hours of driving.
Cycle
58:30
/ 70:00 hrs
70-hour / 8-day cycle
Running total of on-duty hours across every day in the current cycle.
Duty status
Four statuses, one tap
Record and update your duty state from the app; location is detected automatically. Capturing Driving automatically removes the most common source of HOS log error.
Off Duty
Logged when you are released from all work; time counts toward required off-duty rest.
Sleeper Berth
Qualifying rest taken in the vehicle sleeper, kept separate from off-duty time.
On Duty (Not Driving)
Inspections, fueling, loading and paperwork — working time that is not vehicle motion.
Driving
Set by the IOSix device once the vehicle moves, so drive time is never under-logged.
Driver logs
Your day as a graph grid
The log view mirrors the standard paper log format and is generated from GPS-verified duty status changes — no manual entry needed.
- Off duty
- 14.5 hrs
- Sleeper berth
- 0 hrs
- Driving
- 8.5 hrs
- On duty, not driving
- 1 hr
Example log day using fictional demonstration data.
Roadside inspection
Three ways to hand over your records
RIGVELLA supports all three approved transfer methods. Use the one the officer requests.
Email transfer
Send an encrypted, FMCSA-format RODS file to the officer's official email address from the inspection screen.
- 1Officer provides an FMCSA-registered email address
- 2Enter the address and tap Send
- 3Confirmation screen shows SUCCESS
Requires cellular or Wi-Fi
Web service transfer
The app generates a unique 8-character code the officer enters at the FMCSA portal to retrieve your records.
- 1Tap Web Service Transfer in inspection mode
- 2The app generates a code (for example RVL-X9K3) valid 30 minutes
- 3Officer enters the code at dataqs.fmcsa.dot.gov
Requires connectivity
On-screen display
With no connection available, hand the device to the officer for visual log review in read-only mode.
- 1Tap Show Logs On Screen
- 2The app enters read-only Visual Inspection Mode
- 3Hand the device to the officer for review
Works offline — no internet needed
Alerts and notifications
Warnings before the limit hits
Real-time notifications flag approaching Hours-of-Service limits and compliance issues.
Drive limit approaching
A red alert fires as remaining drive time runs down.
Under 1 hr — warning threshold
Break required
A yellow alert prompts you to stage a rest break before the clock forces one.
30 min — advance notice
Log certification due
A blue reminder lists the outstanding log day awaiting your certification.
Log day pending
In-app notifications
Alerts surface on the phone dashboard while you are on the road.
Live — on-device delivery
Fleet manager alerts
The same compliance events escalate to the fleet team for dispatch action.
Shared — driver plus back office
Diagnostics
Six malfunction categories
RIGVELLA surfaces malfunctions in real time. Any malfunction prompts the driver to notify the motor carrier and begin paper logs.
Engine synchronization
Lost ECM link, often a disconnected IOSix cable at the port.
Positioning
GPS position cannot be captured for a logged HOS event.
Timing
Device clock drifts out of tolerance with UTC reference time.
Data recording
Log records cannot be written or stored on the device.
Power compliance
The IOSix unit loses power while the engine is running.
Data transfer
Inspection transfer methods fail their periodic self-check.
Authentication and security
Verifying the signature
Each log event is hashed with SHA-256 as it is written, so edits are detectable and every entry ties back to a named driver.
Hashed at creation
Each duty-status entry gets a SHA-256 hash the moment it saves.
Edits leave a trail
Changes break the hash and log an author-stamped edit record.
Credentialed access
Driver sign-in gates logs, inspection mode and fleet tools.
Registration
Registered models
Both platform builds are submitted for FMCSA ELD Registry approval, each with its own ELD output-file identifier.
| Model | Platform | Role | Covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| RIGVA1 | iOS | Driver app | RIGVELLA logging app on Apple devices |
| RIGE1A | iOS | ELD identifier | Identifier carried in iOS output files |
| RIGVG1 | Android | Driver app | RIGVELLA logging app on Android devices |
| RIGE1G | Android | ELD identifier | Identifier carried in Android output files |
RIGVELLA ELD is submitted for FMCSA ELD Registry approval under 49 CFR Part 395. Hardware identifier: FCC ID 2AICQ-1020.
